Good trimming keeps healthy trees healthy and keeps branches off your roof, gutters, driveway and wires. A trained crew prunes so the tree heals well, instead of topping it or leaving stubs that invite rot.

Common trimming jobs
- Clearing limbs hanging over the roof and gutters
- Raising low branches over driveways, sidewalks and lawns
- Removing dead or broken limbs before they fall
- Thinning dense crowns so wind and heavy snow do less damage
When to trim
Many trees are best pruned when dormant, in late fall through winter, when it’s easier to see the branch structure. Dead or hazardous limbs should come off any time of year. A crew can tell you what makes sense for your trees.
Branches touching power lines: don’t touch them, and don’t hire just anyone. Lines from the pole to the street are handled by the utility, so call them first; a tree crew can advise on the service line to your house.
